Research Around The World-Australia

The site that I chose to study was http://www.earlychildhoodaustralia.org.au/
The first research topic I noticed was “Identify and Implement Quality Improvements.”  Obviously this topic is not only high in the United States, but also Australia. Other topics of research on the top 10 were assessment, respecting diversity and children’s resilience.

It was interesting to see that parent’s involvement is a high priority for this site. They had several links for parents on how to make the first year of school a good experience. It talks about what parents want to know as their child starts school.  They had a section for free scholarly articles online.  Several of these links were broken but I did find a great web site in the process called “Parenting Counts.”  On this web site there was a developmental chart that would guide parents on each stage of child development and what to expect.  I may find it a useful tool in the future.  Here is the link: http://www.parentingcounts.org/

  1. Hi Lori,

I enjoyed reading your post because you choose to explore a different website from the one I choose. Thanks for the link to the parents counts, it was very informative and gave me access to many credible resources. Being a parent, I always feel I should be involved with my son to help him develop and grow. I feel the same way about all children and that is why I am in this field. Thank you for bringing my attention to so much wonderful information. Great post!

  2. It seems that many of us chose this website to use this week. I feel that the ECA is a great source to use to gain knowledge and give insight about the field of early childhood education. What topic do you believe is most important to Australia? Do you believe that all professionals in Australia know about the sites that are available to enhance their knowledge? I looked at your site that you provided it was very informative and I'm sure I may use it in the future. Thank you! - Brittany

  3. Lori,

It sounds like the issue of quality improvement for early childhood programs is a topic receiving international attention. We have learned throughout our program about working towards providing high-quality improvement with much of our attention placed on programs within the United States. The information you shared indicates this issue is important in Australia, and I learned this week from the ECVDU Sub-Saharan Africa that this topic is receiving great attention in many African nations as well.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Best,
    Parker
