The topic of study I have chosen is Quality
teaching in early childhood programs.
I believe the roll of the teacher is the most important factor in
quality care and education.  I would like
to find out exactly what characteristics make up a quality teacher, what types
of professional development promotes growth and how to attract and keep quality
teachers.
I am learning the importance of being
careful and objective when conducting research.
I know that my analytical skills will be strengthened and this will help
me throughout my professional career.  I
view the research process as journey which includes different steps, from formulating
a research question to objectively organizing the data. I believe it is wize to
head the advice of Mac Naughton, Rolfe, and Siraj-Blathford to be realistic
about the time and resources required to research this subject (2010), and I am
looking forward to finding out more about this topic and hope that it will
prove useful in the future

Hi Lori,
ReplyDeleteYou have chosen a great topic because I believe there are numerous resources that you can find on this topic. In my previous class I used the website ZerotoThree.org to find a lot of articles about quality teaching and preparation for teachers. It was a very helpful site and I look forward to reading about your research topic. I also agree with you that we need to be careful when conducting research because we need to make sure that our resources are reliable.
Lori,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great topic! I have become extremely interested in quality teaching since beginning this journey of taking courses through Walden. I find it interesting to read what researchers and educational professionals consider quality teaching. In reading Natasha's reply to you I love that website zerotothree.org it's a great site and I use it frequently for resources.
I look forward to reading more about your topic.

Lori, I believe your topic is so crucial to have in each program to ensure every child is getting the education they deserve. You described that the teacher plays a huge role in the way a child develops and I could not agree more. Do you believe their is a lack of quality teachers around the area you live? Where I live, I feel that there are so many of us that could be incredible teachers but there are no jobs. I feel this course will show us great ways to get quality research and I am looking forward to reading what you find out. Thank you for your post. - Brittany
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great topic. The profession has a high turn over rate and that is because people get into the profession and burn out quickly and I believe that is because they do not understand what it really takes to be a quality teacher. As an administrator you can always tell between the teacher that loves and wants to do their best versus a teacher that has not taken the same interest. Please share as much as you can on the topic, I look forward to reading about your findings.
