1.       Professional Practice

We shall strive for the highest level of personal and professional competence by seeking and
using new evidence based information to improve our practices while also responding openly to suggestions.-I want to maintain and attitude of growth and willingness to learn new things.

2.       Professional Development and practice
We shall engage in ongoing and systematic reflective inquiry and self-assessment for the
purpose of continuous improvement of professional performance and services to young children
with disabilities and their families.-I believe it is imperative to monitor the effectiveness of our curriculum and instruction and how our programs meets individual needs.

     3.   Enhancement of children and families’ qualities of life

We shall recognize and respect the dignity, diversity, and autonomy of the families and children
we serve.-I know that if I don’t learn about other cultures and values and different family dynamics I won’t be as effective in educating the child.

 NAEYC CODE OF ETHICS

      1.       Ethical Responsibility to Children
—To use assessment information to understand and support children’s development and learning, to support instruction, and to identify children who may need additional services.-As a person who has to develop and evaluate assessment tools on an ongoing basis it is important to me to make sure that it meets this ideal and that no child slips through the cracks.

2.       Ethical responsibilities to families
—To develop relationships of mutual trust and create partnerships with the families we serve.-There are small things that I know I can do to help build trust and create a give and take relationship of the families I serve.

3.       Community and society
—To promote cooperation among professionals and agencies and interdisciplinary collaboration
among professions concerned with addressing issues in the health, education, and well-being of young children, their families, and their early childhood educators.-since this is an area that I want to improve in I included it here to guide my efforts and to inspire me to be proactive in making more connections in the community at large.
